CANYON, Texas -- Midwestern State erupted for five runs in the third inning to roll to a 6-3 win over Colorado Mines Saturday afternoon in the WT Woodward Invitational at Buffalo Sports Park.
The Mustangs, who improved to 5-4 on the season, take on Colorado State-Pueblo later in the afternoon before closing tournament play Saturday against Colorado Mesa and Adams State (Colo.).
Sophomore
Emily Lasky knocked a two-run single up the middle as the Mustangs plated all five runs with two outs in the inning.
Lasky finished the day going 3-for-4 at the plate to raise her season batting average to .714 (5-for-7) while driving in three runs.
Senior third baseman
Kelley Schaefer and senior first baseman
Katelyn Potts also drove in runs in the inning.
Schaefer, who went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, also drove in a run in the top of the sixth to give the Mustangs a 6-0 lead.

Taylor Bermudes also had two hits for MSU's 14-hit parade.
Colorado Mines rallied for three unearned runs on Paige Noehring's inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the seventh.
MSU's
Erin Knox evened her season record at 1-1 allowing three unearned runs on six hits in seven innings. She booked four strikeouts and walked one.
Colorado Mines dropped to 1-8 on the season.
