WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Angelo State rattled off an 11-0 run midway through the second then rolled to a 72-55 win over Midwestern State Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The loss snapped the Mustangs' 12-game winning steak to send MSU to 15-4 on the season and 4-1 in Lone Star Conference play.
It was Midwestern's first setback under the dome since falling to Tarleton State on Jan. 21, 2014 -- a span of 14 games.
The Mustangs limited ASU to 38.5 percent shooting in the opening half holding the Rams to well below their 93.9 scoring pace which ranks fourth in NCAA Division II.
But Angelo State erupted for 44 second half points while shooting 54.8 percent from the field in the decisive half to roll to its 11th straight victory.
Senior transfer Demario Mayfield notched a double-double to lead the way for the Rams finishing with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while senior transfer Marsell Holden pitched in 15 points including a three 3-pointers.
Senior transfer Raijon Kelley added 14 points, while another senior transfer Chris Jones scored nine points to go along with six rebounds and three assists.

Khapri Alston tallied 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds off of the bench to lead the Mustangs, while senior guard
Kevin Wagner added 11 points and dished out three assists.
Senior guard Derrell Gibbs knocked down two 3-pointers to finish with 10 points, while senior forward
Abiodun Adegoke had five points and nine rebounds.
Midwestern State takes on Texas A&M-Kingsville on the road Saturday afternoon at Steinke Center. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
