Addison Semer put down a team-high 15 kills in her collegiate debut to lead Midwestern State to a thrilling five-set win over Colorado State-Pueblo Friday afternoon in the Hampton Inn-vitational at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Bastrop High product committed just two miscues in 28 attacks to lead a group of five Mustangs in double-digit kills as sophomore
Sarah Garfield had 13,
Kat Molloy and
Nicole Marzik had 11 each and freshman outside hitter
Meghan Bettis chipped in 10.
Sophomore setter
Sarah Rosinke notched a career-high 52 assists while directing the MSU attack to a .224 team attack percentage over the final two sets to lead the comeback effort.
Defensively, the Mustangs limited the Thunderwolves to a .150 team attack percentage putting up a total of 109 digs paced by libero
Casey Fletcher's 36-dig effort.
Sophomore
Madelyn Johnson added 21 digs while Rosinke and Marzik completed double-doubles with 14 and 17 digs, respectively.
Molloy also led the effort at the net contributing to seven of the Mustangs' 11 total team blocks.
Megan Schultz and Mariangel Perez led the CSU-Pueblo attack with 16 and 14 kills, respectively.
Midwestern State takes on Fort Lewis tonight at 7 p.m. before closing play with matches against Southwestern Oklahoma and Arkansas Tech Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
