SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN LIONS- Colorado, Colorado Springs rolls into town with a 0-1-1 mark after battling Hawaii Pacific to a 1-1 draw in its season opener last Friday then taking a 3-1 loss at Eastern New Mexico on Sunday.
- Senior midfielder James Roberts and freshman forward Josh Berntsson tallied goals for UCCS, while senior forward Justin Miller and junior midfielder Chris Welch notched assists.
- UCCS posted a 6-7-4 overall record in 2013 and was 5-6-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

ABOUT THE SERIES- Midwestern State meets Colorado-Colorado Springs for the seventh time on the pitch Saturday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field.
- The Mustangs own a 5-1 edge in the series which dates back to the 1998 season.
- MSU has claimed wins in the last four matches of the series dating back to a 2-1 loss at Colorado Springs.
- Midwestern is 4-0 against the Mountain Lions at the MSU Soccer Field.
- Dean Lovegrove and Chris Dwyer tallied goals to lead MSU to a 2-0 win over UCCS in the last meeting on Sept. 11, 2011 in Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions outshot the Mustangs 16-8 and had a 14-1 edge on corner kicks.

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS- Midwestern State rebounded from a 4-2 loss in its season opener at Fort Lewis to claim a 2-1 win at Colorado Mesa in overtime Sunday in Grand Junction.
- Senior midfielder Andrew Power is off to a quick start in 2014 netting two goals against Fort Lewis then converted a penalty kick against Colorado Mesa. Power accounted for five goals and two assists last season.
- Junior striker Albert Rodriguez accounted for the game winning tally in MSU's 2-1 win over Colorado Mesa. It was his first collegiate goal since scoring 15 goals for NJCAA national champion Richland in 2006.
- MSU slipped out of the NSCAA Division II rankings, but is still receiving votes. The Mustangs were rated 12th in the preseason poll.
- Midwestern is current ranked third in the Bennett Power Rankings.

THE DOUG ELDER ERA- Doug Elder is in his 15th season at the helm of Midwestern State.
- Elder remains NCAA Division II winningest active coach in terms of percentage at 207-48-26 (.783).
- Elder is a six-time NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year (2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011).
- Elder's teams have advanced to the NCAA Division II postseason nine times while making five national quarterfinal appearances twice advancing to the Final Four.
