SCOUTING THE TEXANNS
- Tarleton State snapped a four-game losing streak by taking a 7-5 win over Texas Woman's University last Thursday in Stephenville.
- The TexAnns (10-14) currently trail Midwestern State (13-11) by three games for fifth-place in the Lone Star Conference standings. With a series sweep, TSU would jump the Mustangs by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker.
- Sophomore designated player Katelyn Conlee leads the Tarleton State attack hitting .403 with 11 doubles, four homers and 22 RBIs. Conlee has hit safely in eight of her last nine games.
- Freshman shortstop Mikayla Stogsdil has hits in eight of her last 10 games to up her season average to .384.
- Sophomore catcher Taylor Wells (.326, 7 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 17 RBI), sophomore outfielder Melody Mayse (.318, 3 2B, 5 3B, 3 HR, 20 RBI, 11 SB) and junior third baseman Amber Clifford (.317, 11 2B, 1 HR, 23 RBI) also top the .300 mark for the TexAnns.
- Junior Brenna Hennan (10-11) leads Tarleton State in the circle with a 3.95 ERA and four shutouts. She has limited the opposition to a .299 batting average and given up just five home runs in 111 2/3 innings.
- Senior Randi Fentress is 10-12 with a 4.26 ERA while limiting the opposition to a .260 batting average.

ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State leads the overall series against Tarleton State by a 17-6 margin.
- The Mustangs have won their last nine games against the TexAnns and 13 of the last 14 dating back to the 2008 season.
- Tarleton State's last win came by a 2-1 count on April 3, 2011 at the LSC Crossover in San Angelo.

MUSTANGS NOTABLES
- Midwestern State has dropped 12 of its last 14 games after rattling off a season-best nine-straight wins from March 7-23.
- Sophomore outfielder Katelyn Vinson connected for multiple homers in a game for the fourth time as collegian with two against Cameron in Game 1 last Wednesday in Lawton.
- Vinson joined senior catcher Kim Jerrick (14 homers) and junior shortstop Katy Vandewater (10 homers) with double digit home runs this season and now has hit 32 in two seasons with the Mustangs to rank second on MSU's all-time homer list.
- Vinson is hitting .448 over her last 20 games since returning from an early season injury with four doubles, a triple and seven homers while driving in 23 runs.
- Junior third baseman Kelley Schaefer is the only other full-time MSU hitter with better than .300 average over the last 20 games hitting .379 with six doubles, five homers and 17 RBIs.
- Midwestern State is hitting .270 as a team over the last 20 games.
- Four MSU players have driven in at least 30 runs this season led by Vinson (41) followed by junior shortstop Katy Vandewater (38), Schaefer (37) and Jerrick (33).
- Sophomore center fielder Haley Howerton has handled each of her 68 chances flawlessly this season.

MILESTONES

- Jerrick needs one stolen base to become just the third player in MSU history to swipe 50 bases in a career. Elena Bennett had 124 from 2010-13 and Nicki Duff stole 50 from 2009-12.

MSU UNDER BRADY TIGERT
Brady Tigert is in his 11th season at the helm at Midwestern State and is the program's lone head coach since it was resurrected in 2004. The Mustangs have averaged just over 40 wins a year under Tigert, who boasts a 426-201 (.679) record which includes NCAA Division II postseason trips in eight of 10 seasons. MSU finished as national semifinalists in 2011, claimed two regional titles (2010, 2011) and two Lone Star Conference championships (2006, 2007).
