WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 18th-ranked Midwestern State Mustangs won their 10th straight match as they easily ripped the Washburn Ichabods 8-1 Friday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.
The Mustangs go to 19-3 on the season and drops Washburn to 6-13, snapping the Ichabods back-to-back win streak.
Once again the Mustangs were paced by the play of
Kayla Casey. The sophomore from Franklin had the only extended play, but the 33rd ranked singles player claimed the No. 1 spot for MSU with a 6-1, 5-7, 10-3 win over Casyn Buchman.

Taylor Coffman, ranked 20th nationally in doubles, defeated Buchman/Jodie Blackim 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.

Sydney Briner joining
Lauren Pineda at No. 2 to down Gwen Shepler and Kirsten Holle 8-3, while
Courtney Anderson/
Paige Boykin beat Nzingha Banks/Ashlynn Sutton 8-3.
In the rest of singles play, Anderson won at No. 3 against Maria Carretero 6-1, 6-1, while Pineda took No. 4 over Holle 6-2, 6-1.
Boykin claimed No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Shepler, with Briner scoring a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Banks at No. 6.
The only point claimed by Washburn came at No. 2 singles, with Blackim getting by Coffman 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
The Mustangs close the regular season on Saturday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center. Texas-Permian Basin visits, with a first serve at 2:30.
