No. 18 Mustangs take down No. 21 Drury 7-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The 18th-ranked Midwestern State Mustangs ran their winning streak to seven straight as they dropped 21st ranked Drury 7-2 on its home courts at the Cooper Tennis Center.
 
MSU (16-3) grabbed the lead by sweeping doubles, while Drury (16-3) picked up two points in singles action.
 
Sophomore Kayla Casey and junior Taylor Coffman led the way for the Mustangs, joining Courtney Anderson and Paige Boykin in each scoring two points for MSU.
 
Casey and Coffman, ranked 20th nationally in doubles, started the sweep for MSU in doubles, all by 8-3 counts, by beating Stefanie Monsch/Lara Muller at No. 1.
 
Amy Clifton/Lauren Pineda added a win over Hadeil Ali/Samanta Zambrano at No. 2, with Anderson/Boykin downing Yasemin Glasgow/Natalia Kozel at No. 3.
 
In singles, 33rd ranked Casey beat Muller 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2, as Coffman defeated Kozel 6-3, 3-1 at No. 3 when Kozel retired.
 
Anderson grabbed a three-set win at No. 4 against Monsch 1-6, 6-4, 7-6, and Boykin shutout Glasgow 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
 
The Panthers grabbed No. 1 as 34th ranked Ali beat Clifton 6-2, 6-3, then followed with the win at No. 5 as Zambrano beat Pineda 6-2, 5-7, 6-0.
 
The Mustangs return to play Saturday at Noon against Northwest Missouri State at the Cooper Tennis Center in Springfield.
