SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The 18th-ranked Midwestern State Mustangs had their six-match winning streak snapped as 12th ranked Drury edged MSU 5-4 Friday evening at the Cooper Tennis Center.
The Mustangs (13-6) fell to the Panthers (16-2) in the contest that was fitting for the top ranked teams in the South Central and Midwest Regions.
Midwestern State took the early 2-1 lead after doubles action, as all three matches were determined by 8-6 scores.

But it was the Panthers tandem of Maximilian Hepp/Lukas Kriem taking No. 2 over
Kacper Boborykin/
Kyle Davidson.
In singles action, four of the six points went to three sets, but losses at the top of the lineup spelled doom for MSU.
In the battle for the No. 1 spot, the Panthers 29th ranked Blair beat 30th ranked Boborykin 6-0, 6-3, with DU's Hepp upsetting MSU's 34th ranked Davidson 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The Mustangs got wins at No. 3 and No. 5, with Toyos beating Sipos a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, and Liston downing Ibsen 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
But the Panthers grabbed the No. 4 position as Kriem beat MSU's Christopher Norrie 6-4, 6-4, then got the win at No. 6 as Nadal edged Grejtak 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
The Mustangs are back on the court at noon on Saturday against the top ranked team from the Central Region, as MSU takes on Northwest Missouri State at Drury.
