No. 18 Mustangs calm Savage Storm 8-1

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 18th-ranked Midwestern State Mustangs ran their winning streak to five as they handled Southeastern Oklahoma State 8-1 Tuesday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.

The Mustangs (12-5) jumped out to the early lead by claiming all three doubles points from the Savage Storm (8-5).

"We came out ready today," said MSU junior Kacper Boborykin.  "Going up 3-0 in doubles was very important today."

Boborykin, playing with Kyle Davidson on the Mustangs No. 2 doubles pair, had to come from behind 4-1 against Tiago Ferreira/Alberto Blesa to win in a tie-breaker 9-8 (7-1).

MSU's No. 1 doubles team, eighth ranked Tomas Grejtak/Ramon Toyos, had no problem with Petar Popovic/Martin Bedecarratz 8-1, while the MSU's No. 3 of Jarrod Liston/Zack Santagate beat Billy Haugen/Nathan Nelmes 8-6.

In singles, it was 30th ranked Boborykin leading the way, blasting Blesa 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, as 34th ranked Davidson used the same score to beat Nelmes at No. 2.

Toyos at No. 3 beat Popovic, and Grejtak at No. 6 downed Renato Joao by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores.

Liston had to rally at No. 5 to beat Bedecarratz 6-3, 6-7 (1-7), 10-8 to end the match.

Southeastern's only point came at No. 4 singles, where Ferreira beat Christopher Norrie 6-2, 6-4.
