ARLINGTON, Texas – The 18th-ranked Midwestern State Mustangs had to sit through a three-hour weather delay before taking to the Arlington Tennis Center courts to down Dallas Baptist 5-0.
The match was halted after it was decided because of the late start and both teams have matches scheduled for Saturday morning.
The Mustangs (11-3) collected an important South Central region win from the Patriots (9-6) and snapped DBU's five-match winning streak.
MSU began the sweep by claiming all three doubles points, led by the 20th ranked tandem of

Taylor Coffman beating Amanda Richter/Cassandra Wennerstrom at No. 1 8-6.

Sydney Briner took No. 2 over Leah Rutt/Leah Smith 8-2, and
Amy Clifton/
Courtney Anderson blanked Lyvia Gomes/Meredith Robinson 8-0 at No. 3.
The bottom of the Mustangs singles lineup gave MSU the match win quickly.
Paige Boykin shut out Robinson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6, with Anderson following at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Gomes.
The other points were halted as the match was determined.
Midwestern State concludes the four matches in four days stretch on Saturday in Arlington when the Mustangs face 19th ranked St. Mary's in a battle between the top two teams in the NCAA Division II's South Central Region. First serve at the Arlington Tennis Center is set for 10 a.m.
