SAN ANGELO, Texas -- No. 24 Midwestern State suffered consecutive run-rule defeats for the first time in program history falling 10-2 and 9-1 both in five innings Friday night to 12th-ranked Angelo State at Mayer Field.

The teams close the four-game weekend series with a doubleheader Saturday at Mayer Field. First pitches are set for 1 and 3 p.m.
Senior catcher
Kim Jerrick provided the lone highlight in the nightcap leading off the contest with her 52nd career and 12th home run of the season over the left-field fence. She needs five more to pass former West Texas A&M standout Kim LeComte (56 HRs from 2009-12) as the league's all-time leader in home runs.
But Angelo State erupted for seven runs on six hits in the second inning keyed by Rachel Moore's two-run homer to left-field and Carly Peters' two-run single as the Belles hit for the cycle as a team in the inning which included a double by Kenedy Urbany and a triple from Morgan Spearman.
ASU capped the run-rule with a walk-off, two-run blast off of the bat Tina Cisneros in the fifth inning.
The loss snapped a personal five-game winning streak for MSU starter
Katlyn Holmes who fell to 8-5 on the season. She allowed nine runs -- eight earned -- on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Angelo State's Mary Kate McKay claimed wins in both games limiting the Mustangs to no earned runs on three hits in five innings in Game 1 before holding MSU to one run on two hits in Game 2.
Junior third baseman
Kelley Schaefer roped a double to the left-field gap to plate MSU's first run of the game to plate
Haley Howerton, who had reached on an error, from first base in the second inning, then
Taylor Bermudes singled and scored on an error in the fifth inning.
Angelo State tallied a run in the first, four in the second, three in the third and two more in the fourth to total 10 runs on 12 hits to come away with the victory.
Erin Knox suffered her first loss in the circle since Feb. 3 to snap a personal nine-game winning streak while falling to 10-3 on the season. The freshman from West allowed eight runs -- five earned -- on eight hits while issuing five walks in 2 1/3 innings.
