WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 18th-ranked Midwestern State Mustangs grabbed a big Division II victory Friday morning as they topped No. 22 Brigham Young-Hawaii 6-3 at the MSU Tennis Center.
The Mustangs (10-5) won their third straight match and never trailed to the Seasiders (11-4), snapping BYU-Hawaii's seven-match winning streak.
MSU collected a 2-1 lead after doubles, with the only loss coming at No. 1.
The Seasiders 14th ranked pair of Yevhen Zakharov/Martin Chojnacki upset the Mustangs eighth ranked duo of
Tomas Grejtak/
Ramon Toyos 8-6.
But the other two MSU pairs came through for the lead as

Kacper Boborykin claimed No. 2 against Wei-Feng Lee/Peng Dai 8-2, and Jarron Liston/
Zack Santagate won at No. 3 against Ibrahim Karmadzhe/Taylor DeHoyas 8-5.
The Mustangs grabbed the top position in singles, as 30th ranked Boborykin downed Zakharov 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.
The Mustangs also claimed the No. 3 spot with Toyos bettering Karmadzhe 6-0, 6-1.
In a battle of nationally ranked singles players in the No. 2 position, BYU-H's 23rd ranked Chojnacki edged MSU's 34th ranked Davidson 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
The Seasiders also claimed No. 4 singles with Lee beating
Chris Norrie 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.
But the Mustangs took the bottom of the order to clinch the win. Liston won at No. 5 against Dai 5-7, 6-2, 6-3, while Grejtak beat Ian Galli in the No. 6 spot 6-2, 7-5.
The Mustangs face a key South Central Regional test on Saturday morning in Arlington, as they meet 27th ranked St. Mary's at the Arlington Tennis Center.
