LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The 19th-ranked Midwestern State Mustangs suffered their second loss of the season as the No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic Pirates downed the Mustangs 9-0 at the Darling Tennis Center to close their Spring Break trip to the desert.
Midwestern (9-2) took only one set from the two-time defending national champion Pirates (14-1).
AASU started by sweeping the doubles action.

The only set won by the Mustangs came at No. 5 singles, where Anderson lost the opening set to Dora Andrejszki 6-2, before she beat the Pirate 6-4 in the second. Andrejszki edged Anderson in the third 11-9 to claim the point.
At No. 1, Filipovski, ranked second nationally, downed Clifton 6-0, 6-2.
Krtickova, ranked 15th in Division II, battle Casey, ranked 38th, at No. 2, winning the first set in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-5), then put away the point 6-1 in the second.
The Pirates Hacke, 16th in DII, beat Coffman 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3, while Prats-Milan handed Peneda a 6-1, 6-0 loss at No. 4.
No. 24 Kalodzitsa won at the No. 6 position, shutting out MSU's
Paige Boykin 6-0, 6-0.
Midwestern is back in action on Wednesday, March 26, when it hosts Southwest Baptist at the MSU Tennis Center.
