Jones paces Mustangs past Angelo State

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Dianna Jones poured in a game-high 18 points and completed an all-around game with six rebounds and six assists to lead the Mustangs to a 69-58 win on Senior Night Wednesday at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

MSU has now won six of its last eight games while improving to 16-9 on the season and to 8-6 in Lone Star Conference play.

The Mustangs led from tip to buzzer but had to repel a few Angelo State runs as the Rambelles erased a 10-point first-half advantage to tie the game at 37-37 three minutes into the second half.

But Midwestern peeled off the next seven points to reassert control of the game and would lead by as many as 16 points down the stretch.

Junior forward Andrea Carter completed her 10th double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while senior guard Kristi Degelia connected on 7-of-10 free throws to finish with nine points and dished out five assists.

Junior forward Taylor Dowd added eight points off the bench, while sophomore Lynn Lumpkin Boozer had four points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Rochelle Norris finished with 13 points and six rebounds off of the bench to lead the Rambelles who dropped to 13-11 and 7-7. Hillari Adams completed a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Midwestern State takes on Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday afternoon at Steinke Center. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
