LAREDO, Texas — Midwestern State rallied from a halftime deficit to rout Texas A&M International 5-1 Saturday night at the TAMIU Soccer Complex.
The Mustangs, who improved to 11-2-2, take on Eastern New Mexico in their home finale Monday night at the MSU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Senior forward
Len Smith tallied the equalizer in the 57th minute and capped scoring with his eighth goal of the campaign in the 81st minute.
In between, the Mustangs peppered the Dustdevils with 20 shots while limiting TAMIU to just two total shots in the second half.
This all came after Texas A&M International won the first half with a goal by Eduardo Gonzalez in the 16th minute while holding MSU to six first-half shots.
Junior forward
Albert Rodriguez gave the Mustangs the lead for good with his fifth goal of the season in the 61st minute, then freshman
Thomas Parides added his fourth goal in the 63rd minute.
Freshman
Paulo Sanchez added his first collegiate goal in the 67th minute.
Junior goalkeeper
Nick Petolick made two saves to claim his 11th victory between the posts.
Texas A&M International fell to 8-7-1 on the season.
