WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State dominated the run of play throughout the match Monday night at the MSU Soccer Field.
 
But two mistakes proved costly allowing Eastern New Mexico to come away with a 2-1 win. The Greyhounds first in 12 tries on the Mustangs' home pitch.
 
"We don't lose it home," MSU coach Doug Elder said. "It's not that we played bad. We made some mistakes and we're thin in the back. We are having to put midfielders in the back and it's not a good situation, but can't dwell on that that. We've got to move on and clean up our mistakes. We got 25 shots and 13 on goal. We got one goal out of that. That's not good enough."
 
ENMU struck for its first goal right before the intermission redshirt-freshman Daniel Sanchez served a ball to sophomore Jose Hernandez who found space between the MSU midfield and back line to get a clean look at his first goal of the season.
 
"Both of their goals were mistakes (on our part)," Elder said. "(Hernandez) got the ball out wide and had too much time. We let them run at us. We should have stepped up tight."
 
Midwestern, who were already playing without starting center back Kalen Ryden, also suffered another loss when junior center back Call Casarez also left with a foot injury early.
 
The Mustangs kept peppering the ENMU goal having two balls saved off the line and two others hit the woodwork, but had nothing to show for their efforts deep into the second half despite finishing with a 25-7 shot advantage.
 
Senior midfielder Andrew Power finally pulled MSU even when he headed in his team-best 12th goal of the season off of a throw in from senior Chase Robertson in the 69th minute.
 
MSU allowed Hernandez to get loose again in the 77th minute when he found space on the right wing to send a cross through the box to Isaak Arrieta who headed in the game winner.
 
The Mustangs close the regular season with a pair of road matches this week. MSU takes on West Texas A&M Thursday night in Canyon before closing out against Eastern New Mexico Saturday in Portales.
