STEPHENVILLE, Texas -- Tarleton State blitzed Midwestern State 25-18, 25-19, 25-12 to send the Mustangs to their seventh straight road loss Friday night at Wisdom Gym South.
The Mustangs, who dropped to 6-15 overall and to 2-8 in Lone Star Conference, take on Angelo State Saturday afternoon at Junell Center. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
The TexAnns hit an opponent season high .360 as a team paced by freshman outside hitter Hailey Roberts, who put down a match-high 12 kills.
Midwestern held a brief lead in the first two sets and hit a strong .222 in the opening frame, but it was just get worse from there hitting a paltry .052 over the final two frames.
Sophomore middle blocker
Sarah Garfield (Wichita Falls, Texas / Holliday HS) went for seven kills and three total blocks, while junior outside hitter
Hunter Porter (Red Oak, Texas / Red Oak HS (Emporia State)) had seven kills and three digs.
Freshman middle blocker
Angel Summers (Hewitt, Texas/ Midway HS)put down five kills with one error in 11 attempts for a .364 kill rate as MSU's most efficient attacker against the TexAnns.
It was the second Tarleton hit better than .300 this season against the Mustangs as TSU hit .333 in another 3-0 sweep last month in Wichita Falls.
Junior middle blocker Kenya Alexander and senior outside hitter Kaitlyn White added nine kills each for the TexAnns, who also dominated at the net.
Tarleton senior middle blocker Jasmyne Brown stretched for seven of the TexAnns' 11 total team blocks, while junior Kelsey Raglin totaled four blocks.
Tarleton State claimed its second straight win to improve to 16-5 and 7-4.
