WINNER WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER: MSU rolls past Javelinas 81-59

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State delivered the goods on its home floor Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

For the 1,289 fans in attendance, it meant free chicken from Raising Cane's, but for the team it turned into the biggest win in a 81-59 runaway over Texas A&M-Kingsville.

The Mustangs claimed their second straight win to improve to 12-7 on the season while leveling their Lone Star Conference record at 4-4.

Senior guard Dianna Jones matches a career high by dealing out 10 assists helping Midwestern blitz the nets at a 51-percent clip for the night including a 58.3-percent run (14-of-24) in the second half.

Junior guard Lisa Hampton splashed in four treys in the opening half including two in the final 80 seconds as the Mustangs pushed out to a 42-33 lead at the break.

Senior forward Andrea Carter took over the second half by going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field on her way to matching a season high with 21 points while pulling down six rebounds and swiping two steals -- all in 24 minutes of court time.

Carter ran off MSU's first eight points of the second half by converting a traditional three-point play and bombing in a triple from the top of the key to help the Mustangs push out to a 56-41 advantage less the four minutes into the final frame.

Midwestern would lead by as many as 26 points in the second half.

Hampton finished with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the 3-point range, while junior guard Shatoia Gober pitched in 12 points and eight rebounds off of the bench.

Senior guard Kirsti Degelia and Taylor Dowd pitched in nine and eight points, respectively.

Texas A&M-Kingsville's Lindsey Mahone had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Javelinas, who dropped to 7-10 and 2-5.

Midwestern State returns to action Saturday night against Cameron at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
