MSU are 8-11 in those eight appearances with six of those victories coming in consecutive regional title runs in 2010 and 2011. Midwestern fell in three games to Angelo State in Super Regional play before besting West Texas A&M in three games to advance to the World Series in 2011. The Mustangs own an overall 13-16 mark in NCAA Division II postseason play.

MUSTANGS AGAINST THE FIELD: Midwestern State split its season series with Texas Woman's taking two of three during the regular season on April 5 and 6 in Wichita Falls before the Pioneers rallied to take a 10-7 decision in the semifinal round of the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament last weekend in Canyon. MSU claimed an 8-0 run-rule win in five innings in its lone matchup against St. Mary's (Texas) on the strength of Laci Belovsky's no-hitter during the Courtyard by Marriott Invitational on March 2 at Mustangs Park. Incarnate Word claimed two of three games over MSU on March 28 and 29 in San Antonio. Overall, the Mustangs are 5-5 against the South Central Region I tournament field.

MSU PLACES SIX ON ALL-LSC TEAM: Freshman Katelyn Vinson headlined a group of five All-LSC first-team performers earning league Freshman of the Year honors. She was joined on the first team by senior outfielder Courtney Bingham, senior outfielder Elena Bennett, junior catcher Kim Jerrick and sophomore third baseman Kelley Schaefer. Freshman outfielder Haley Howerton was named to the third team.

GOLD GLOVES: Midwestern State placed three players on the LSC's second-annual Golden Glove team including junior catcher Kim Jerrick and sophomore third baseman Kelley Schaefer while senior outfielder Courtney Bingham earned honors for the second consecutive season.

TIGERT GETS 400TH WIN AT MSU HELM: Midwestern State coach Brady Tigert led the Mustangs to their 400th win in an 11-5 win over Tarleton State in the Lone Star Conference quarterfinals last weekend in Canyon. MSU is averaging 40 wins a year since bring back softball in 2004. Tigert has won 510 games as a collegiate coach including 110 heading Texas A&M-Kingsville from 2001-03.

WINNING 40: Midwestern State has amassed 40 wins in five of its 10 seasons of existence including in three of the last four seasons. The Mustangs led all of college softball with 104 wins in 2010 and 2011 while claiming a pair of South Central Region titles advancing to the national semifinals in 2011.

A BASHING SUCCESS: Midwestern State is enjoying its best ever offensive showing this spring. The Mustangs top the nation with a .592 slugging percentage and rank second with a .366 team batting average while rating second only to Humboldt State (Calif.) in home runs per game at 1.47. It all adds up to 7.63 runs per game of output – the fifth most in NCAA Division II.

MUSTANGS NEARING LSC MARK: Midwestern State needs eight more home runs to match the Lone Star Conference single season mark of 91 set by Angelo State in 2009. MSU has hit 84 homers to easily outdistance the program's old standard of 60 set in 2011.

MSU TOPS LSC IN HITTING X THREE: Midwestern State boasts the top three hitters in the Lone Star Conference as freshman Katelyn Vinson sports a .516 mark followed by junior catcher Kim Jerrick (.438) and sophomore third baseman Kelley Schaefer (.428). Senior outfielder Courtney Bingham is sixth with a .399 average.

HISTORIC VINSON: Freshman outfielder Katelyn Vinson is enjoying what could be the best offensive season ever by a Lone Star Conference performer. The Southlake native ranks fourth in the nation with a .516 batting average, is third with 21 home runs and 12th in RBIs per game at 1.22. She is a single point off the LSC single batting average mark of .517 set by East Central's Cherene Hiesl in 1997. Vinson and Heisl would be the only LSC players to ever finish the season with better than a .500 batting average.

BINGHAM BANGS IT: Senior outfielder Courtney Bingham needs three doubles to match the Lone Star Conference single season record for doubles set by Cameron standout Melissa Bour with 26 in 2008. Bingham already owns the LSC career mark at 72.

JERRICK TOPS POWER CATEGORIES: Junior catcher Kim Jerrick flew to the top of the program's all-time homer list with 19 bombs this season and has accounted for 40 homers in her three seasons as a Mustang. The Belle Plaine, Kan. native ranks fifth in NCAA Division II in home runs and is seventh in the nation with a .574 on-base percentage. Jerrick's 17 doubles and 19 homers add up to a .854 slugging percentage which ranks 13th in the country.

BELOVSKY WINS: Freshman pitcher Laci Belovsky's 26 wins are the third most of any NCAA Division II pitcher in nation trailing only Emporia State's Karely Schmelzer (31) and Fort Hays State's Maddie Holub (27). Belovsky's seven shutouts lead the Lone Star Conference.
