DURANT, Okla. – The No. 31 Midwestern State Mustangs went to 5-2 on the season with a 7-2 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Mustangs swept the top of both the singles and doubles, dropping matches only at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 singles.
"We played well against Southeastern," said MSU Coach
Scott Linn. "I was really pleased with the way our (No.) 1, 2, 3 singles finished today."
The Mustangs got another outstanding performance from senior
Colby Meeks who teamed with
Luke Joyce at No. 1 doubles to beat Luka Radulovic and Martin Bedecarratz 8-4, then won at No. 3 singles over Bedecarratz 6-3, 6-2.
"He was steady the whole match," said Linn of Meeks.
Joyce, ranked 39th nationally, won at No. 1 singles over Radulovic 7-6, 6-3.
At No. 2 doubles, MSU's
Kyle Davidson and
Franko Siljeg shutout Filip Pavlovic and Tiago Ferrieria 8-0, with Davidson beating Pavlovic at No. 2 singles 6-4, 7-6 and Siljeg outlasting Ferrieria 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
MSU also won at No. 6 singles with
Kacper Boborykin beating Guillermo Haugen 6-3, 6-4.
The Savage Storm (7-5) scored in doubles as Haugen and Laercio Lobo downed MSU's
Tomas Grejtak and
Austin Crawford 8-4, and in singles as Lobo defeated Crawford 7-5, 6-2.
Midwestern is idle until next Monday when the Mustangs begin a spring break swing through Florida starting with Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach.
