MSU SOFTBALL GAME DAY: #19 MSU, #16 UCO square off Tuesday at Mustangs Park

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- No. 19 Midwestern State takes on No. 16 Central Oklahoma in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Mustangs Park.
 
The Bronchos defeated MSU on a walk off grand slam by Alex Zukerman 11-8 a week ago in Edmond.
 
First pitch for the twin bill is set for 3 p.m.

STREAK: The Mustangs snapped a five-game skid by taking a 6-0 win in their series finale Saturday afternoon against Angelo State. Midwestern State had won 16 of 17 games before falling into the skid.

WHO'S HOT? Midwestern State boasts four of the top six hitters in the Lone Star Conference. Senior Elena Bennett, who suffered a season-ending leg injury last week, continues to lead the league with a .523 average while scoring 35 runs to go along with 27 stolen bases. Sophomore Kelley Schaefer ranks second in the LSC hits .494 with four doubles and seven homers while driving in a team-high 45 runs. Junior catcher Kim Jerrick is fourth in the LSC batting .468 with 10 doubles, 10 homers, 10 stolen bases and 35 RBIs. Freshman designated player Katelyn Vinson ranks fifth in the conference with a .441 average with two doubles, four homers and 15 RBIs.

IN THE CIRCLE... Freshman Laci Belovsky pitched her fourth shutout of the season in a 6-0 win over Angelo State Saturday afternoon at Mustangs Park. The Grangerland product logged 10 strikeouts second time this season with 11 Ks Friday night against the 'Belles. Belovsky is 14-5 on the season with a 2.95 ERA. Fellow frosh Kat Batey is 7-4 with a 6.05 ERA.

STREAK: The Bronchos roll into Tuesday's doubleheader on a five-game winning streak and have won 10 of their last 11.

WHO'S HOT? Senior third baseman Kacie Edwards paces the UCO attack hitting .422 with six doubles, eight homers and 24 RBIs, while freshman second baseman Ally Dziadula is the Bronchos' No. 2 threat hitting .415 with five doubles, four homers and 15 RBIs. Sophomore utility player Nicole Workman leads Central Oklahoma with seven doubles, seven homers and 28 RBIs while hitting .378. Junior first baseman Hayley Hudson and freshman outfielder Brooke Zukerman give the Bronchos a potent pair of power hitters with five and four homers, respectively.

IN THE CIRCLE... Central Oklahoma ace Kalynn Schrock boasts an 11-2 mark and a 1.79 ERA over 18 appearances and 11 starts this season. The junior left-hander from Choctaw, Okla. has notched a pair of shutouts while allowing 25 earned runs on 77 hits in 98 innings this season. Schrock owns a 117-to-26 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Junior Amanda McClelland is 6-1 with a 3.41ERA in 15 appearances and nine starts this season while sophomore Nicole Workman is 3-2 with a 5.33 ERA in five starts.
