WINTER PARK, Fla. – Midwestern State managed to pick up a win in singles and in doubles, but it wasn't enough to hold back No. 6 Rollins, as the Tars handed the Mustangs a 7-2 loss at the Tiedke Tennis Complex on Wednesday.
The No. 31 Mustangs (6-4) carried three singles points to three-sets, including the one winner. Rollins (6-4) kept MSU at bay.
MSU's top doubles team of
Luke Joyce and
Colby Meeks collected the win at No. 1 over Will Kwok and Jason Alabaster 8-5, but the Tars picked up the point at No. 2 as Robin Marchione and Jacobo Herrero edged
Kyle Davidson and
Franko Siljeg 9-7. RC claimed the final doubles point at No. 3 with Adrian Di Felice and Cooper Maxwell claiming an 8-2 win over
Kacper Boborykin and
Tomas Grejtak.
Siljeg collected the only singles win for MSU at No. 4, beating Di Felice 3-6, 7-6 (10-5), 6-4.
MSU had two other singles points go three, but all were claimed by the Tars as No. 36 Malte Christesen beat Davidson 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3, and Herrero downed Boborykin 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 5.
In the point at No. 1, Kwok defeated Joyce 7-6 (10-3), 6-2, as Marchione won at No. 2 over Meeks 6-2, 6-3. Cooper Maxwell finished the match at No. 6 beating MSU's
Austin Crawford 7-6 (10-3), 6-1.
The Mustangs wrap up the Florida swing on Thursday at Florida Southern.
