ABOUT THE MUSTANGS

The Mustangs play their final regular season game and honor lone senior Ashley Rush as they take on Texas Woman's.

MSU is in second in the Lone Star Conference, a half game behind Abilene Christian for the LSC lead.  A Midwestern State win and a loss by ACU in either of the Wildcats two games this week would give the Mustangs an LSC title and the number one seed in the LSC Tournament.

The Mustangs are paced by the powerful duo of junior Kirsti Degelia and sophomore Andrea Carter.

Degelia, who was the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 14 after chalking up a career-high 27 points against Tarleton State, leads the Mustangs offensively. The honorable mention All-Lone Star Conference performer a season ago is a junior from Denton, Texas/Krum who is fourth in the Lone Star Conference with 15.7 points a game (93rd in Division II) to go with 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists (third in the LSC).

Carter has picked up the LSC Defensive Player of the Week award for the fifth time this week to go with the LSC Offensive Player of the Week award she collected earlier this season.  She has posted 14 double-doubles in 25 games this season (seventh in Division II).  The sophomore from Angleton is second on the team and ninth in the LSC with a 12.5 scoring average, while standing sixth in the LSC with a 47.9 field goal percentage (112-of-234).  She leads the squad, is second in the LSC and is 13th nationally with 10.5 rebounds and is second in the conference with 2.5 steals a contest (64th in Division II).

Sophomore Shatoia Gober of Waco, Texas/Midway contributes 9.4 points a contest to go with her 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals an outing.  She is also shooting 47.5 percent from the floor (94-of-198).

MSU is averaging 68.3 points with 39.7 rebounds a game.  The Mustangs allow opponents 59.5 points a contest.

ABOUT THE PIONEERS

Tarleton State have lost eight straight games and nine of their last 10 dating back to their first meeting with MSU.

The Pioneers of coach Beth Jillson are 6-18 overall, 4-14 in the LSC, and have been eliminated from LSC Tournament contention.

Junior guard Rebekah Cluley of Wichita Falls, Texas, a former MSU player, leads the squad with 9.7 points (18th in the LSC), 3.1 assists (seventh in the LSC) and tallies 4.9 rebounds a game.

Sophomore guard Toree Mason of McKinney, Texas is second on the team with 9.4 points a contest (20th in the LSC) to go with her 1.2 3-pointers per game (ninth in the LSC) and 1.5 steals (13th in the LSC).

Sophomore forward Ria Pateraki of Athens, Greece adds 8.4 points with a team leading 5.5 rebounds (14th in the LSC), while junior guard Tabbatha Thurmond of The Colony, Texas adds 8.3 points with 5.0 boards.

The Pioneers average 54.8 points a game (ninth in the LSC), while allowing 61.7 ppg (sixth in the LSC).
