SCOUTING THE DROVERS
USAO has won three of its last four games after claiming a pair of victories last weekend at the Southwest Assemblies of God Classic of McPherson (Kan.) by an 86-81 score and an 89-84 result over NAIA No. 24 Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) to improve to 3-4 on the season. The Drovers rank 11th in NAIA Division I with just under nine made 3-pointers a game while scoring 79.9 points per contest. Senior guard Tyler Reynolds leads a group of five double-figure scorers for USAO with 15.6 points a game in 27.6 minutes off of the bench. Junior guard Makens Charles drops in 13.7 points per game while senior guard Shavon Scott (11.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg), senior guard Donnie Brown (11.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg) and senior guard Kennis White (11.4 ppg, 6.7 rpg) add to the Drovers' scoring depth. Sophomore guard David Tucker, Jr. has knocked down 13 of his 30 3-point attempts to add 9.7 points per game while junior forward Ahmir Bailey and junior forward Anthony Bolton score 6.3 points a contest.

ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Science & Arts (Okla.) meet for the 20th time on the court Tuesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs own a 12-7 edge in the series which dates back to the 1976-77 season. MSU has won the last two meetings - both under the dome - with the Drovers' last win coming by a 97-89 count on Nov. 29, 1995 in Chickasha.

Midwestern State took its first two losses of the season last weekend at the Arkansas Tech Thanksgiving Classic dropping a 74-70 decision to Harding (Ark.) Friday afternoon before taking a 58-57 setback to the host Wonder Boys to fall to 5-2 on the season. Senior guard

Arkansas Tech scored the final nine points after MSU senior guard
Monzaigo Williams banged in consecutive treys to give the Mustangs a 57-49 lead with 4:12 to play. ATU's Bobby Hatchett hit two free throws with 3.7 seconds left to give the Wonder Boys a 58-57 victory. The Mustangs led by as many as 14 points early in the second half but could not overcome a 38-8 discrepancy in free throw attempts. Williams paced Midwestern with 14 points and five assists while
Derrell Gibbs erupted for a season high 13 points while connected on three 3-pointers.
DeJuan Plummer added 10 points off of the bench. The Mustangs limited Arkansas Tech to just 33 field goal attempts with just eight of those coming from the Wonder Boy starting five.

Midwestern State plays just its second home game of the season Tuesday night against Science & Arts (Okla.) at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs have enjoyed great success under dome boasting a 70-4 mark (.946) since the start of the 2008-09 season and are 534-126 (.809) all time in the historic building at the intersection of Taft Blvd. and Midwestern Pkwy.

BEST IN TEXAS
Midwestern State has won more games than any other four-year program in the State of Texas since the start of the 2008-09 season. The Mustangs boasts a 137-34 mark (.801) during the stretch which includes five NCAA Division II postseason showings while advancing to the Elite Eight in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Midwestern also claimed Lone Star Conference championships in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013.

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS
Midwestern State has won 47 consecutive games against non-NCAA Division I/II opponents and is 52-2 since making the jump to Division II prior to the 1996-97 season. The Mustangs are 39-0 against that competition at D.L. Ligon Coliseum and have not lost since dropping a 120-114 result at Texas Lutheran on Nov. 17, 1997. MSU also fell to The Master's (Calif.) in the NAIA Southwest Independents Regional as a dual member at the end of the 1996-97 season.

MSU UNDER NELSON HAGGERTY
Nelson Haggerty is in his third year as head coach of the Mustangs. He boasts a 56-15 mark (.789) while leading MSU to a pair of Lone Star Conference titles. The Mustangs advanced the Elite Eight in 2012 before falling to Metro State in the South Central Region finals last season. Haggerty served the previous two seasons as the top assistant at Midwestern as the Mustangs rolled to the Elite Eight in each of those campaigns.

MSU IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Midwestern State retained its No. 6 standing in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches' Division II Top 25 released earlier this week. The Mustangs rated 13th in the preseason then jumped ahead seven spots to No. 6 in the Nov. 19th release. The Mustangs have carried a national ranking in each of the last five seasons.
