WEATHERFORD, Okla. -- Sophomore outside hitter
Nicole Marzik erupted for a season-high 15 kills to lead Midwestern State to a 25-22, 25-19, 25-17 win in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Rankin Williams Fieldhouse.
The Mustangs (17-12) open Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament play against Angelo State Thursday at WTAMU Fieldhouse in Canyon, Texas. First serve is set for noon.
The Mustangs blistered the ball to the tune of a a .320 team attack percentage committing just 15 errors as six different players finished with at least five kills.
Senior setter/outside hitter
Marija Jovanovic put down eight kills while hitting .375. She completed a solid all-around performance with 19 assists, six digs and two total blocks.
Senior right-side hitter
Michelle Blount hit .429 with seven kills and a single error to hit .429 to go along with four total blocks.
Senior middle blocker
Caitlin Wallace needed 10 total attacks to put down six kills without an error (.600) to go along with five total blocks, while freshman middle blocker
Sarah Garfield added six kills with a pair of blocks.
Senior outside hitter
Beatriz Villalba added five kills with one miscue in 13 attacks (.308).
Junior libero
Casey Fletcher had 15 digs to lead back row efforts.
Allison Cole had 11 kills to lead Southwestern Oklahoma State as the Bulldogs fell to 13-20 .
