WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State senior Caitlin Wallace put down a match-high nine kills to lead the Mustangs to a 25-16, 25-18, 25-19 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Thursday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

The Mustangs improved 16-12 on the season and to 7-9 in league play.

MSU will clinch the No. 5 seed in next week's LSC Postseason Tournament if Tarleton State loses to Angelo State Saturday afternoon in Stephenville.

The Mustangs made it happen on the defensive end Thursday night forcing the Javelinas into 29 attack errors and a negative team hitting percentage paced by a big net game by freshman Sarah Garfield, who recorded six total blocks while Marija Jovanovic, Beatriz Villalba and Michelle Blount added two blocks each.

Midwestern spread the effort on the back row, as well.

Junior libero Casey Fletcher was joined by redshirt freshman Madelyn Johnson and freshman setter Sarah Rosinke with seven digs each.

Villalba and Garfield were also efficient on the attack combined for 11 kills and just two errors as the Mustangs finished with a .198 attack percentage.

Midwestern closes the regular Satruday afternoon at Southwestern Oklahoma State. First serve is set for 2 p.m.

Texas A&M-Kingsville dropped to 14-18 and 5-10.
