DALLAS -- The Dallas Baptist attack blistered Midwestern State to the tune of a .256 team hitting percentage as the Patriots rolled to a 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 win Tuesday night at Burg Center.
The Mustangs, who dropped to 15-12 on the season, return to D.L. Ligon Coliseum Thursday for a Senior Night showdown with Texas A&M-Kingsville. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
MSU senior middle blocker
Caitlin Wallace battled for a team-high 13 kills while hitting .281. The Amarillo product was in on four of the Mustangs' six blocks, but it wasn't enough to deter the DBU inside-outside combination of sophomore outside hitter Tadam Mergener and junior middle blocker Tiara Iwegbu.
Mergener completed a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs, while Iwegbu had 10 kills and five blocks as DBU efficiently posted three-, four- and two-error totals while holding the Mustangs to a .118 team attack percentage.
Midwestern sophomore outside hitter
Nicole Marzik notched seven kills to go along with 12 digs, while freshman middle blocker
Sarah Garfield had six kills and a block.
Redshirt-freshman
Madelyn Johnson led back row efforts with 18 digs while sophomore
Marissa Olivares added 15 and junior defensive specialist
Casey Fletcher had 10.
Dallas Baptist senior libero Cameron Hartson tallied a match-high 19 digs while Erika Papadeas and Tyler Bradsher added 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
The Patriots improved to 14-15 on the season.
