PORTALES, N.M. -- Senior outside hitter
Marija Jovanovic slammed down a season-high 14 kills to pace Midwestern State to a 25-23, 17-25, 25-21, 25-16 win over Eastern New Mexico Saturday afternoon at Greyhound Arena.
The Mustangs have won four of their last five to improve to 11-8 on the season and to 3-7 in Lone Star Conference play.
MSU takes on Dallas Baptist Tuesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
Freshmen
Alyssa Fulgium (22 assists, 12 digs) and
Sarah Rosinke (19 assists, 7 digs) directed the Mustangs to a .217 team attack percentage.
Senior
Beatriz Villalba added nine kills and sophomore
Marissa Olivares added eight kills as the Mustangs spread the attack.
Senior
Caitlin Wallace led a solid effort at the net for the Mustangs with five total blocks, while freshmen
Sarah Garfield and
Cody Moore had four blocks each. In all, the Mustangs managed 11 total team blocks to limit the Zias to a .116 team attack percentage.
Junior libero
Casey Fletcher paced the back row with 21 digs.
Courtney Lawson had 14 kills and 13 digs to pace ENMU which slipped to 5-14 and 3-7.
