SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
St. Edward's has rolled off eight consecutive wins since opening the season with a loss to Colorado Mines and a draw against Fort Lewis (Colo.). The Hilltoppers have outscored the opposition 26-5 during the run which includes four shutouts. Junior forward Daniel Riley leads the St. Edward's attack with nine goals while junior midfielder Andrew Fox has proven just as dangerous with seven goals of his own. Senior forward Anderson McDaniel is a proven table setter with a team-high five assists. Senior John Kaschak boasts a 1.11 goals against average with a 0.743 save percentage in nine matches as the Hilltoppers' primary goalkeeper.
 
ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
Midwestern State hasn't lost since taking a crushing 2-1 setback in overtime to St. Edward's last month in Wichita Falls. The Mustangs reeled of five consecutive shutouts to spur a seven match unbeaten streak while outscoring the opposition 14-2 during the run which includes three wins over nationally ranked foes. Junior forward Len Smith continues to lead the Mustangs with six goals and an assist while junior midfielder Andrew Power has come on strong with four goals and an assist and junior forward Dan Johns has accounted for three goals. Sophomore Nick Petolick has been a revelation in the net for the Mustangs posting five shutouts in seven starts while boasting an NCAA Division II best 0.27 goals against average with a stellar .939 save percentage.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State meets St. Edward's for the 34th time on the pitch Saturday afternoon at Lewis-Chen Field in Austin. The Mustangs own a commanding 25-4-4 edge in the series which dates back to 1987.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Midwestern State scored two rapid fire goals by Chase Robertson and Dan Johns then held on for a 2-1 win over No. 15 West Texas A&M Tuesday night at the MSU Soccer Field.
 
LAST TIME OUT VS. ST. EDWARD'S (Sep. 20)
Andrew Fox scored in the 103rd of the second overtime to provide the difference in a 2-1 win for St. Edward's over Midwestern State last month in Wichita Falls. Junior forward Len Smith gave the Mustangs the early lead with his first goal of the season in the 34th minute before SEU's Daniel Riley netted the equalizer in the 50th minute.
 
MIDWESTERN IN NATIONAL STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Petolick leads NCAA Division II in goals against average (0.157) and save percentage (.963) and is 76th in saves per game (4.33). Junior forward Len Smith ranks 63rd in totals goals (6.0), 64th in goals per game (0.6), 81st in points per game (1.3) and 96th in total points (13.0). Junior defender Chase Robertson is 31st in assists per game (0.5) and 63rd in total goals (6.0).
