MUSTANGS FAST BREAK
LAST TIME OUT: The Mustangs dominated the glass by whopping +31 margin and used another second-half surge to overtake Angelo State 65-55 Saturday night at Junell Center/Stephens Arena.

Keith Spellman led the way with 13 points each while
Corbin Thomas notched his fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Senior guard
Kevin Grayer turned in a solid all-around performance with 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

MUSTANGS STAY PERFECT IN LSC PLAY: Midwestern State improved to 6-0 in the LSC play for the second straight season and for the third time since joining the league in 1996-97. The Mustangs opened with 13-straight conference wins in 1999-00, while advancing to 6-0 last season before taking a loss at Eastern New Mexico. MSU has now started at least 5-1 in LSC play eight times in the last 15 seasons ending six of those season as Lone Star Conference champions.

5 SEASONS, 50 LSC WINS: Midwestern State claimed its 50th Lone Star Conference victory since the start of the 2008-09 season Saturday night at Angelo State. The Mustangs are a cool 50-12 (.806) during the time span which includes three Elite Eights (2010, 2011, 2012) and three Lone Star Conference titles (2009, 2010, 2012). Tarleton State is second with a 45-15 mark (.750) trailed by West Texas A&M at 35-25 (.583).

TRENDING HALVES: Midwestern State has trailed at the half in 10 of 13 games this season. To compound that, the Mustangs have faced double-digit opening half deficits in six games this season. MSU shoots just 38.5 percent as a team and owns a narrow +1.6 rebounding margin prior to intermission. On the flip side, Midwestern has outscored the opposition in the second half in each of its 13 games by an average margin of 11.2 points a game. The Mustangs connect on 50.3 percent of their shots from the field in the second half while out-rebounding the opposition by a +8.1 margin.

JUST GIVE ME A SECOND CHANCE: Midwestern State has out-rebounded or matched the opposition in each of its 13 outings this season as the Mustangs lead the Lone Star Conference in rebound margin (+9.8), offensive rebounds per game (16.5) and offensive rebound percentage (44.9). MSU has converted 214 offensive rebounds into 208 second chance points, which accounts for an astounding 21.6-percent of its total scoring output.

STREAKS ALIVE: Midwestern State goes for its 11th straight win over Texas A&M-Commerce Wednesday. The win streak would be the longest active one for the Mustangs against a conference opponent. MSU has also beaten Texas A&M-Kingsville in 10 consecutive matches and owns nine-game winning streaks over Abilene Christian and Cameron. The Mustangs own a win in their last meeting against every current conference opponent and has won 13 of their last 14 conference games dating back to last season.

THOMAS TAKE DEFENSIVE HONORS AGAIN: Senior forward
Corbin Thomas claimed LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after averaging 12.7 points and 10 rebounds a game in wins at Eastern New Mexico, Abilene Christian and Angelo State over the Christmas break. The transfer from Missouri State tops the league with 3.9 offensive rebounds a game and is second in overall boarding collecting 8.2 caroms a contest.

ADDERLEY GETTING IT DONE IN SECOND HALF: Senior guard
Cam Adderley has scored each of his 25 points over the last two games in the second half. The transfer from Northeast (Colo.) CC reeled off 12 points in a 72-71 win at Abilene Christian before scoring 13 points in the second half of a 65-55 win at Angelo State.
Adderley connected on 11-of-14 shots (78.6 percent) from the field including a pair of 3-pointers -- all after intermission.

KASTER COMES ALIVE: Junior forward
Derek Kaster averaged 10 points and six rebounds in last week's road trip which included wins over Abilene Christian and Angelo State.

About the Series: Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce meet for the 77th time on the hardwood Wednesday night at the A&M-Commerce Fieldhouse. The Mustangs own a 46-30 edge in the series which dates back to the 1947-48 season. MSU has won each of the last 10 meetings of the series dating back to a 87-61 loss on Feb. 7, 2005 in Commerce. Midwestern has claimed victories in its last four trips to East Texas including a 65-53 win over the Lions last season which led to a three-game sweep including a 69-50 win in Wichita Falls and a 64-52 result in the Lone Star Conference semifinals in Allen, Texas. The Mustangs are 16-19 all time against the Lions at A&M-Commerce Fieldhouse.
