COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The red-hot Fort Lewis (Colo.) attack blistered Midwestern State at a .289 clip as the Skyhawks rolled to a 25-22, 25-18, 25-16 win in the opener of the UCCS Invitational Friday at the Gallogly Event Center.
FLC improved to 3-2 on the season led by sophomore outside hitter Ashley Wells who powered down 11 kills while Stephani Sonka and Kristan Stephan added seven kills each to pace the Skyhawks' balanced attack.
Midwestern State (1-4) continues tourney play Friday afternoon against Franklin Pierce (N.H.) before closing the weekend with matches against No. 12 Wayne State (Neb.) and Colorado-Colorado Springs Saturday at 12:30 and 8 p.m., respectively.

But the Skyhawks rallied to win six consecutive points to establish momentum and clinched the set on an Alexa Moser service ace.
The Mustangs clawed to within a point in the second set at 16-15, but FLC used a 9-5 run to close out the set to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
Stewart continued her stellar play by hitting .333 while accounting for 11 kills to just four errors in 21 attacks while junior middle blocker
Caitlin Wallace needed just 12 attacks to put down six kills with a single error (.417).
