SAN ANTONIO - Time Warner Cable (TWC), the Midwestern State University and the University of the Incarnate Word, have announced a TV distribution agreement to deliver the September 29, 2012 football game featuring the UIW Cardinals vs. MSU Mustangs live to TWC's digital customers in Texas on the company's Texas Channel. Kickoff from Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls is slated for 7 p.m. CST and play-by-play coverage will feature broadcast veterans Dan Hawkins and Skip Boyden, and sideline reporting will be handled by Andy Austin.
It's the Texas Channel's first live telecast from Wichita Falls.
The Texas Channel is available to all TWC digital customers across the state of Texas. The partnership is an extension of relationships the company has had with UIW and MSU in the past to provide live coverage of sports events to their customers.
"Time Warner Cable is proud of its many relationships with local universities and the opportunity to provide our customers with this exciting content," said Jon Gary Herrera, vice president of communications for Time Warner Cable in Texas. "We value the community partnerships with UIW and MSU, and we look forward to offering more football and additional sports coverage from these universities in the future."
"We are excited to be a partner with Time Warner Cable once again," said
Charlie Carr, director of athletics for Midwestern State University. "The live telecast continues the effort to highlight the outstanding play of MSU and the Lone Star Conference to our alumni and fans in the state of Texas."
"Our ongoing partnership with Time Warner Cable and the collaboration with Midwestern State University has elevated our athletic program's marketing potential and helped drive our branding initiatives," said Mark Papich, director of athletics for the University of the Incarnate Word. "The opportunity to have our football team televised over such a vast network provides that added exposure to new markets that only an organization like Time Warner could provide".
The Sept. 29 game will also be available at a later date on Time Warner Cable's local On Demand channels across the state where customers will be able to relive the action on their time, as many times as they want with the ability to fast-forward, rewind and pause the program. The Texas Channel, which launched in the fall of 2010, is available to all Time Warner Cable digital customers at no additional cost and features local sports, music, outdoors and Texas-centric programming.
