CANYON, Texas -- Kameryn Hayes, Halie Harton and Erin Dougherty combined for 35 kills to lead fifth-ranked West Texas A&M to a 25-20, 25-18, 25-16 win over Midwestern State in Lone Star Conference play Tuesday night at the WTAMU Fieldhouse.
The Lady Buffs claimed their 13th consecutive to improve to 13-1 on the season and to 4-0 in league play while sending MSU to its sixth loss in seven matches to fall to 3-10 and 1-4.
Hayes, a sophomore from Cypress, put down 14 kills while Harton and Dougherty added 11 and 10 kills each as WT leveled the Mustangs with a .380 team hitting percentage
Midwestern used a 7-0 run midway through the second set highlighted by a pair of blocks and two big kills by junior outside hitter
Beatriz Villalba as the Mustangs rolled out to a 13-6 edge but the Lady Buffs recovered to outpoint MSU 19-5 for the remainder of the stanza.
MSU struggled with WT's big front hitting into eight blocks while logging a .100 kill rate with 30 kills and 21 attack errors.

Shelbi Stewart battled her way to a team-best eight kills (.040 attack percentage) while Villalba and sophomore middle blocker
Kasey Decker added five kills each.

Michelle Blount (4 kills, 0 errors) and Decker led the Mustangs at the net with two blocks each while sophomore libero
Casey Fletcher led back row efforts with nine digs.
Midwestern State returns to D.L. Ligon Coliseum for a pair of LSC tilts this weekend as the Mustangs take on Texas A&M-Commerce Friday night at 7 p.m. before battling Texas Woman's University Saturday at 2 p.m.
