SAN ANGELO, Texas - No. 13 Angelo State blitzed Midwestern State 25-13, 25-18, 25-14 sending the Mustangs to a fourth-straight defeat in Lone Star Conference play Saturday afternoon at Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
MSU (2-8, 0-2) faces Incarnate Word in its home opener Thursday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. First service is set for 7 p.m.
Angelo State claimed its third consecutive win improving to 8-2 on the season and to 2-0 in league play with a dominating offensive performance.
The Rambelles hit .323 as a team led by senior outside hitter Chelsea Gibson's 10-kill performance. Junior middle blocker Maddie Huth added seven kills while freshman outside hitter Arielle Bond added six.
The Mustangs struggled to a .054 team hitting percentage paced by senior outside hitter
Shelbi Stewart, who had five kills while sophomore middle blocker
Kasey Decker had four kills.
