AUSTIN -- Midwestern State's
Shelbi Stewart delivered her most efficient match of her career in the finale of the Hilltopper/Rattler Classic Saturday afternoon at the SEU Recreation and Convocation Center.
The senior outside hitter from Pflugerville needed just 24 swings to put down 16 kills without error for a career best .667 attack percentage, but Southwestern Oklahoma State came away with a 3-1 victory to send the Mustangs home with a 1-3 showing at the season opening tournament.
The Mustangs rode a hot start posting 18 kills while committing just four errors in the opening set fueled Stewart and junior middle blocker

Kasey Decker added three kills each without an error to help MSU to a 25-14 edge in the opening frame.
Behind junior middle blocker Christina Darras' 10-kill effort, the Bulldogs took the next two sets hitting efficiently at a .275 team clip to claim 25-20, 25-21 wins for a 2-1 edge.
Midwestern then committed 13 attack errors as a team to cinch the match for the Bulldogs.
Sophomore
Kristan Aduddell posted a season-best 30 set assists with a stellar .380 set percentage to pace the MSU attack while Haney notched 17 set assists to go along with six digs.
Junior middle blocker
Caitlin Wallace notched her second double-digit kill performance of the season with 10 while Blount finished with seven.
Sophomore libero
Casey Fletcher paced the back row with 17 digs while junior outside hitter
Brandi Flores added eight kills and 16 digs.
The Mustangs hit the road for the Colorado-Colorado Springs Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Gallogly Events Center. MSU takes on Wayne State (Neb.) and Franklin Pierce (N.H.) on Friday before closing tournament play with Fort Lewis (Colo.) and UCCS on Saturday.
