The blast spoiled
Brenna Hennan's best start of the season as the freshman from Burkburnett weaved a two-hitter, but a lack of command proved to be her undoing as she fell to 1-6 in the circle.
Hennan issued five free passes including two walks in the fifth before Smith's homer provided the difference for the Rambelles who improved to 23-3 overall and to 7-0 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Mustangs jumped to a 1-0 lead on the strength of junior outfielder
Courtney Bingham's solo shot over the right-center field fence in the third inning. It was her first homer of the campaign.
She was one of seven different Mustangs to record hits off of Angelo State starter Mary Kate McKay, who improved to 11-1 on the season. McKay allowed one run on seven hits with three strikeouts and three walks.

Angelo State struck for a pair of runs in the third inning powered by Carly Peters' leadoff homer to center field. Chelsea Walters followed with a double to the left field gap before scoring on Amanda Wilhelm's single to left field.
The Rambelles tacked on three runs to put away the game in the fifth.
