DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Midwestern State Mustangs collected one point off of one of the top NAIA programs in the nation, as MSU fell 8-1 at Embry Riddle on Monday.
Embry Riddle (9-1) is ranked third in NAIA, while the Mustangs (5-5) are 35th in NCAA Division II.

Kendra Casey got MSU's only point with her win at No. 5 singles, thanks to a 4-6, 6-1, 10-2 win over Josefine Strom.
"We showed some resilience against a great team," said Coach
Scott Linn. "The win was a good one for Casey. While the score isn't indicative, (Rozike) van Rensburg played well in singles, and (Taylor) Coffman and Casey fought back well."
Van Rensburg fell at No. 1 to Yi Chang Chen 6-1, 6-1, while Coffman dropped a 6-1, 7-5 decision to Kristina Marova at No. 4.
Lindsey Holcomb fell to the fifth ranked player in the NAIA, Rocio Frej Vitalle 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, as
Sarita Adhikary lost at No. 3 to Ekaterina Kamedova 6-3, 6-3.
Lindsey Buenger lost to Paola Montero 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.
In doubles, Holcomb/Adhikary dropped the No. 1 point to Chen/Strom 8-2. Buenger/van Rensburg lost at No. 2 to Vitalle/Kamendova 8-6, while Coffman/Casey dropped the No. 3 point to Montero/Marova 8-4.
Midwestern continues their road swing through the Southeast on Wednesday against Rollins in Winter Park, Fla.
