No. 20 Mustangs holds of Southern Nazarene, 4-3

Box Score

KINGSVILLE, Texas - Midwestern State's Lindsi Glenn won her fifth consecutive start to lead the Mustangs to a 4-3 win over Southern Nazarene (Okla.) Saturday afternoon in the Texas A&M-Kingsville Invitational at Hubert Park.

It was the fourth straight win for the Mustangs who improved to 5-2 on the season.

MSU closes out tournament play with games against Southeastern Oklahoma Saturday at 3 p.m. before taking on Southern Arkansas Sunday morning at 9.

The Mustangs struck for a pair of runs in consecutive innings keyed by a two-run single by senior third baseman Mallory Mooney in the third while Carey Campbell and Elena Bennett drove in runs in the fourth.

The runs turned out to be just enough breathing room for Glenn, who went the distance while allowing three runs on six hits. The lefty notched two strikeouts and permitted a walk.

The Red Storm took an early lead on Katie Turner's homer to left field in the first inning, and then chipped away at the Mustangs' lead with an Amy Madden solo shot in the fourth before Kaylee Allen pulled SNU within a run with an RBI double in the sixth.

Junior outfielder Courtney Bingham paced the Mustangs' nine-hit attack by going 2-for-4 with a run scored while freshman shortstop Kelley Schaefer and junior first baseman Christina Roosmalen accounted for MSU's lone extra-base hits with doubles.

Southern Nazarene fell to 1-2 on the season.
