DENTON, Texas -- Senior outside hitter
Shelbi Stewart blasted 16 kills to lead Midwestern State Friday night at Kitty Magee Arena.
But it wasn't enough to offset Texas Woman's Viktorija Jablonska's 17-kill act as the Pioneers came away with a 25-20, 24-26, 25-14, 25-18 Lone Star Conference victory.
Mustangs, which dropped to 5-20 on the season and to 3-12 in LSC play, face Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday night on the road. First service is set for 7 p.m.
Stewart committed just two errors in 31 attempts to hit a stellar .452, but the rest of the MSU attack was forced into 27 attack and a sluggish .048 combined attack percentage as TWU's big block accounted for nine total blocks led by Marcela Alves, who posted four solos.
Jablonska paced Texas Woman's efficient .323 team attack percentage while Chloe' Tate, Courtnee Davis and Alves had nine kills each.
MSU junior outside hitter/setter
Courtney Haney netted a double-double with 16 set assists to go along with a team-high 14 digs while junior middle blocker
Michelle Blount pitched in six kills and four total blocks.
Texas Woman's improved to 17-6 on the season and went to 11-4 in league play.
