PORTALES, N.M. -- Shelbi Stewart and
Caitlin Wallace combined for 27 kills to help Midwestern State snap a seven-match skid with a 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 25-18 win over Eastern New Mexico Tuesday night at Greyhound Arena.
It was MSU's first win since claiming a four-set victory at Cameron three weeks ago as the Mustangs improved to 5-19 on the season and to 3-11 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Mustangs spread the attack in the opening as five different player notched two-or-kills while turning up the pressure on the Eastern New Mexico attack forcing the Zias into 11 attack errors to set the tone for the match.
Stewart and sophomore middle blocker
Kasey Decker put down four kills without an error while Wallace was errorless with three kills as the Mustangs blitzed ENMU to the tune of a .371 team attack percentage to take the second set by a 25-22 margin.
The Zias appeared to have solved the MSU offense by forcing the Mustangs into 11 attack errors in the third frame to force a fourth set, but Wallace, Stewart and junior outside hitter
Brandi Flores slammed down five kills each to secure the victory.
Stewart finished with a team-high 14 kills to go along with six digs and two total blocks, while Wallace finished with 13 kills and five total blocks.

Kristan Aduddell (28 set assists, 11 digs) and junior outside hitter/setter
Courtney Haney (19 set assists, 13 digs, eight kills) notched double-doubles while piloting the Mustangs to a .199 team attack percentage.

Taylor Parker recorded 20 digs to lead back row efforts while junior outside hitter
Beatriz Villalba added 13 digs and three total blocks.
Lindsey Barron tallied 19 kills to pace the Zias, who suffered their fifth-straight loss to fall to 6-17 and 2-12.
Midwestern State continues on the road with matches at Texas Woman's on Friday and Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday. First serve for both matches is set for 7 p.m.
