ABILENE, Texas – The 30th-ranked Midwestern State Mustangs dropped only one game in easily handing the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs 7-0 on Saturday at the Hardin-Simmons Streich Tennis Center.
MSU (15-6) and TLU played only five women in the match, not playing No. 3 doubles or No. 6 singles.
The Mustangs, started by Rozike van Rensburg and
Alex Odell-Michels who ripped through Rica Arizola and Jessica Flayer at No. 1 doubles 8-0, with the No. 2 team of
Ashley Huse and
Lindsey Holcomb stopping Meredith Davis and Mara Davisson 8-0.
In singles action, the only game won by TLU was in No. 5 singles where MSU's
Ashley Huse won 6-1, 6-0 over Yvonne Castillo.
The other four singles matches saw 6-0, 6-0 wins as van Rensburg downed Arizola, Odell-Michels beat Davis,
Leah Roberts defeated Davisson and Holcomb erased Flayer by the score.
The Mustangs have one more regular season match before starting post-season play next Friday at the Lone Star Conference Championships in Abilene. On Wednesday, MSU visits Fort Worth to face TCU in a 3 p.m. match.
