WICHITA FALLS – The 29th ranked Midwestern State men took no prisoners as they handily dispatched the Texas-Tyler Patriots 9-0 Tuesday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.
MSU moved to 7-0 on the season with the win, while the Patriots fell to 8-3.
"We played hard today and had good focus," MSU
Scott Linn said. "I was really pleased with our number one doubles team who turned their match around."
The team of
Vjekoslav Stipanic and
Luke Joyce trailed Andrew Reznik and Josh Chavez 2-6 before rallying and winning six straight games to claim the point 8-6.
Jarrod Liston and
Chad Meeks at No. 3 doubles rallied as well to beat Kevin Singer and Kevin Wright 9-7, while MSU's
Bo Zaputovic and
Mario Urban handed Adam Chirhart aand Henrique Bellini an 8-4 loss at no. 2.
The Mustangs only close match was at no. 3, where Joyce beat Chirhart 6-3, 7-5. Stipanic downed Chavez 6-3, 6-2, Urban downed Bellini 6-1, 6-4 and Zaputovic handed Wright a 6-4, 6-3 defeat.
At No. 5,
Octavian Dinuta beat Singer 6-2, 6-3 and at No. 6,
Tiago Vilarinho beat Chayce Stone 6-4, 6-3.
MSU is on the road for a spring break swing to California next week.
