Mustangs netters roll to 5-0, beat Cowley County 7-2

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Led by the strong play of senior Vjekoslav Stipanic and sophomore Luke Joyce the Midwestern State Mustangs rolled by Cowley County 7-2 on Saturday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.
 
Stipanic and Joyce opened the match with an 8-5 win at no. 1 doubles over Nei Dos Santos and Joan Valls. Stipanic then dispatched Valls in no. 1 singles 6-1, 6-3, while Joyce took care of Tom Gibaud 6-2, 6-1 at number three singles.
 
MSU's Mario Urban had no trouble in shutting out Dos Santos at no. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0.
 
Octavian Dinuta and Chad Meeks also claimed singles wins for MSU, with Dinuta downing Bates Baldwin 6-1, 6-4 and Meeks beating Connor Tebow 6-4, 6-4.
 
Meeks and Jarrod Liston downed Gibaud and John Ward at no. 3 doubles 8-3 for the other MSU win.
 
Cowley's Zack Evenden beat Liston at no. 4 singles 6-4, 6-2, then teamed with Dave Chera to defeat MSU's Bo Zaputovic and Urban 9-8 at no. 2 doubles.
 
MSU plays again on Saturday, March 5 against McMurry at the MSU Tennis Center.
