PORTALES, N.M. - Eastern New Mexico's Abayneh Crosby converted a 1-on-1 opportunity in the 59th minute as the Greyhounds beat No. 7 Midwestern State for the first time in school history Friday afternoon at the ENMU Soccer Field.

It was the first win for the 'Hounds over the Mustangs in 14 tries and dropped MSU to 7-2 on the season and to 0-2 in Lone Star Conference play.

Eastern New Mexico drew first blood in the 28th minute when Michael Stewart redirected an Isaiah Turnam header with a header of his own to beat Midwestern goalkeeper Michael Wood for a 1-0 lead.

The advantage was short lived, however.

MSU junior Fernando Garza collected a mis-clear and blasted a shot past the ENMU goalkeeper in the 35th minute to equalize the match at 1-1.

The Greyhounds (5-2-4, 3-0-1) regained the leads in the 59th minute when Rodrigo Pontes struck a through ball to Crosby, who put the ball past Wood for the game winner.

The goals snapped a string of four consecutive shutouts for the Mustangs, while Wood had allowed just two goals in 640-plus minutes of play entering the contest.

Crosby's goal was also the first second-half tally permitted by MSU this season.

The Mustangs take on rival West Texas A&M Sunday afternoon in Canyon. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
