TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - No. 21 Midwestern State continued its mastery of Lone Star Conference North Division foes claiming a 67-45 win over Northeastern State Thursday night at Jack Dobbins Fieldhouse.
The Mustangs rolled to its 12th consecutive win to improve to 12-1 on the season while winning their 22nd straight contest in league crossover games.
MSU takes on No. 18 Central Oklahoma, a 60-57 winner over Tarleton State Thursday night in Edmond. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. or 25 minutes following the conclusion of the women's game which begins at 2.
The Mustangs put the clamps on the RiverHawks motion offense limiting NSU to 29.5 percent on 29.5 percent shooting from the floor including a 2-for-15 performance from beyond the arc.
"Defensively, we were fantastic tonight," MSU coach
Grant McCasland said. "That's one of the toughest offenses to guard. The motion is always changing with all of the back screeens, but they really got tired. I was proud of our guys effort tonight."

Chris Hagan and
Michael Loyd combined for 40 points as the Mustangs constructed a 13-point lead in the opening half and led 30-22 at the half.
Then the Mustangs dominated the second half building the lead to a game-high 22 points on
Darrick Thomas' layup with 22 seconds remaining.
Hagan tallied 27 points on 9-of-19 shooting including a trey and an 8-of-8 effort at the free throw line, while Loyd dialed in three 3-pointers on his way to 13 points and five assists.
Thomas finished with 10 points and seven rebounds in 27 minutes, while
David Terrell pitched in six points and six rebounds in 19 minutes off of the bench.
Dominique Gaines paced the RiverHawks with 19 points and five rebounds as NSU slipped to 5-8 on the season.
