Game Day: Midwestern faces hot 'Hounds Wednesday night at Ligon Coliseum

Setting the Stage

Midwestern State returns to the dome going for its 38th consecutive victory as the Mustangs square off with Eastern New Mexico Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
 
Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. or 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game which begins at 6.

About the Mustangs

Midwestern State has dominated at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in 2010-11 thumping teams by an average of 23.1 points per game while rolling to 8-0 mark.
 
Despite delivering a season-low 7-point performance, senior guard Chris Hagan continues to lead the Lone Star Conference in scoring at 23.2 points per game.
 
The 5-9 guard maintains a 50.6 field goal percentage while connecting on 2.1 treys per game and has scored 20-or-more points in 10 games this season including a Division II high 50 points at Cameron on Dec. 13, 2010.
 
Senior guard Adrian Van Buren has played in just three games this season, but has proven clutch.
 
The Midland native has netted 24 points in 31 minutes at home this season including 10-point outing in his season debut in 11 minutes against Mid-America Christian on Dec. 30, 2010. Van Buren splashed in 14 points in 20 minutes off of the bench Saturday night against Abilene Christian.
 
In between, he hit a big 3-pointer coming in off of the bench cold in overtime on Jan. 12 at Angelo State.
 
Van Buren has hit 7-of-10 shots from beyond the arcs in his three games this season.
 
Senior forward Charlie Logan (13 points, four rebounds) and junior forward Thomas Colbert (12 points, six rebounds) combined for 25 points to join Van Buren in double digits in Saturday's 84-62 win over Abilene Christian.

About the Greyhounds

Eastern New Mexico is picking up steam heading into Lone Star Conference South Division play.
 
The Greyhounds (7-7, 2-0) have won four straight games including divisional wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and West Texas A&M after picking up road victories in their final to crossover contests at East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma.
 
All this after ENMU dropped five consecutive games from Dec. 2-20, 2010, but the Greyhounds have found the mix coming out of the Christmas break and are winning by 12.3 points per game.
 
Junior Max Carrier paces a trio of Eastern New Mexico players in double figures. The 6-7 forward scores 14.3 points and pulls down 8.0 rebounds per game.
 
Junior guard Stefan Mirabal is the 'Hounds top perimeter threat notching 13.6 points a game while knocking down the 3-point shot at a 43.5-percent clip including 2.6 makes a contest.
 
Junior forward Aaron Edwards comes off of the bench to scored 10.3 points and pulled down 5.6 rebounds a game while senior guard Victor Reid (8.8 points, 3.7 rebounds), senior forward Tyler Jefferson (8.8 points, 4.5 rebounds) and junior guard Tralyn Harden (7.7 points) add to ENMU's solid offensive mix.
 
The Greyhounds score 75.9 points a game and allow 76.4.

About the Series

Midwestern State and Eastern New Mexico meet for the 34th time on the hardwood Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
 
The Mustangs own a 19-14 edge in the series which dates back to the 1948-49 season and have won the last seven games of the series including a 76-57 decision on Feb. 13, 2010 in Wichita Falls.
 
ENMU's last win came by an 86-81 margin on Jan. 25, 2007 at Ligon Coliseum.
 
Midwestern is 10-5 all time against the Greyhounds under the dome.
