Midwestern frustrates Javelinas to improve to 2-1 in LSC

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State forced Texas A&M-Kingsville into 31 errors Sunday afternoon as the Mustangs rolled to a 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 Lone Star Conference victory at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

The Mustangs, who have won six of their last eight matches, improved to 8-6 on the season and 3-1 in league play.

Senior middle blocker Lauren Bayer paced the team with six total blocks as the Mustangs finished the contest with 12 total team blocks as the San Antonio native also delivered on the attack with eight kills while committing just a single error in 20 attacks for a .350 kill rate.

Senior opposite hitter Karolina Damjanovic paced Midwestern with an efficient nine-kill performance while posting a .400 attack percentage to go along with four total blocks of her own, while Hillary White and Caitlin Wallace closed with six and five kills, respectively.

Senior libero Kiara Jordan paced the back row efforts with 19 digs, while junior setter Taryn Westerman had 27 assists and nine digs.

Texas A&M-Kingsville (5-8, 2-2) was led by Lauryn Lozano who had 13 kills, while libero Virginia Hernandez was the Javelinas' top defensive performer with 19 digs.

Midwestern State next faces St. Mary's (Texas) and Oklahoma Baptist Saturday in the Southeastern Crossover in Durant, Okla. First serve is slated for 4 and 6 p.m., respectively.
