STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Midwestern State snapped a two-match skid with a strong singles' showing in a 5-3 win over Tarleton State at the Potishman-Lard Tennis Courts.
Monica Graff and
Leah Roberts continued to dominate as doubles partners by improving to 16-0 as a tandem this season with an 8-4 win over Mariana Freitas and Rocio Cabanillas 8-4 at No. 1.
But the TexAnns rallied for wins at Nos. 2 and 3 to take a 2-1 lead going into singles' play.
But, there, the Mustangs dominated to take four wins to move to 12-7 as a team on the season.
Alex Odell-Michels dropped her opening set 6-2 to Adrianna Jaskova at No. 1 singles before rallying to take the second and third sets 7-6 and 6-3.
Midwestern's
Lindsey Holcomb displayed toughness to give the Mustangs another three-set win by taking Jade Charlot 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 4.
Graff also claimed her 15th-straight singles' win in a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 3 as she now been victorious in her last 30 sets dating back to a straight-set loss to Abilene Christian's Dina Pavlin on Feb. 7.
Roberts clinched the win for Midwestern with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Carole Julen at the No. 5 position.
The Mustangs play host to Southeastern Oklahoma State Thursday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
