OKLAHOMA CITY - Midwestern State was unable to duplicate its regular season success over Tarleton State Friday morning in the Lone Star Conference Championships at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.
The TexAnns used four straight-set singles' victories to come away with a 5-3 win and advanced to the semifinals.
The Mustangs got off to a quick start as
Monika Graff and
Leah Roberts combined for their 19th-straight doubles win by taking Mariana Freitas and Rocio Cabanillas 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, while MSU's
Lindsey Holcomb and
Alex Odell-Michels edged Tarleton's Jade Charlot and Evgeniya Prokofeva 9-8 at the No. 2 position.
The TexAnns would claim a win at the No. 3 doubles position to narrow the margin to 2-1 heading into singles play.
Midwestern State had taken four of the five completed singles matches back in a 5-3 victory on April 7 in Stephenville, but had the tables turned Friday morning.
Sophomore
Alex Odell-Michels was the lone singles winner as she dusted Adrianna Jaskova 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1, but Tarleton claimed straight-set wins at Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 6 to claim the victory.
Midwestern State closes the regular season with a 14-8 mark, while the TexAnns improved to 13-7.
