LAWTON, Okla. - Midwestern State dropped a pair of Lone Star Conference matches over the weekend at the Cameron University Quad.
The Mustangs fell 5-1 to Northeastern State (Okla.) Friday morning.
MSU's Monica Graff and
Leah Roberts teamed for an 8-2 win over Ivana Belejova and Claire Chanay at No. 2 doubles as the Riverhawks (7-2) took a 2-1 lead into singles' play.
Northeastern State quickly claimed three victories to close out the match as Zuzanna Oskinska defeated
Alex Odell-Michels at No. 1 and Emina Spirtovic beat
Kaja Banas at No. 2 both by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
Chanay closed out the match by taking a straight-set 6-3, 6-4 win over
Lindsey Holcomb at No. 4.
Graff and Roberts improved to a perfect 15-0 as doubles' partners later in the afternoon with an 8-2 win over Cameron's Sara Flores and Daniela Stevenson.
Graff also advanced her stellar singles' ledger to 15-1 with a straight-set 6-2, 6-3 win over Carolina Mullor, but it wasn't enough to overtake the Aggies, who claimed wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 4 singles to put away the 5-2 victory.
Midwestern State slipped to 11-7 on the season and 1-4 in conference play, while Cameron improved to 9-5.
The Mustangs host Southeastern Oklahoma State Thursday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
